Heaven is an eternal abode promised to those who are faithful to God. It is a place for which many of God’s people have longed for as they lived in this life. Throughout the scriptures we can read of how desperately God’s faithful have longed for and desired to go to Heaven. When we carefully consider the scriptures it becomes clear why they wanted to go to Heaven, but what about you? Why do you want to go to Heaven?
Many people have a childlike fascination with the miraculous spiritual gifts mentioned in the Bible. The topic seems to create a certain craze or hysteria among some people. In fact, there are people today who believe that God still gives these gifts to man, and that unless a church possesses all of these gifts – it is not a fully functioning church. Does God still give these gifts to man today.
The idea of God’s providence is not something gathered from one particular passage in the Bible. Rather, it is a doctrine that appears on nearly every page of Scripture to which the term providence has been appropriately attached. Our understanding of God’s providence comes from a thorough study of His word as a whole, and not from a few passages of scripture.
The Bible refers to the time of Christ as the fullness of time. This was the designated time in which God would bring His marvelous plan of redemption to fruition. It was the time that had been appointed before the very foundation of the world was laid.
The letters that Jesus wrote to the seven churches serve as a warning to us all. Many of them were in danger of falling away. There were a variety of problems that existed in these churches, but there was one enemy seeking their destruction – the Devil. The Devil sought to destroy these churches by any means necessary, and we need to understand that the Devil wants to destroy this church.
God’s wisdom can be understood as we read His word, and comprehend His design for the church. Certainly, mankind would have done things different. Evidence of this fact can be seen from all of the many groups that have left the Biblical pattern in order to establish their own churches governed by their own rules. Yet, none of them can compare to God’s plan set forth in His word. It is our goal to bring forth some very practical thoughts regarding God’s design for the church that we may have a deeper understanding of His great wisdom.
This epistle of Philemon was written for the purpose of promoting forgiveness and reconciliation. There was a problem between Philemon and Onisimus that needed to be corrected. Paul wanted Philemon to receive back Onesimus, and this letter was written to restore their relationship.
The goal of this study is to help the readers have a better understanding of the relationship between the clothes that we wear, and the roles that God has given men and women. Despite the idea of our present culture that gender roles are outdated, God is very clear in His word that He made male and female with a designed purpose. “26And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. 27So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.” (Genesis 1:26, 27) This designed purpose is set forth throughout scripture demonstrating God’s wisdom as Creator.
Throughout the Bible we find that God measures the actions of men and deals with them accordingly. He is impartial in this act for He uses the same standard for all men. Those who are righteous are blessed, while those who are wicked are condemned. It was for this very reason that Abraham could not believe that God would treat the righteous and the wicked the same way in His judgment of Sodom and Gomorrah. Abraham asked, “Shall not the judge of all the earth do right?” The word “right” means just, and it is an appeal to the righteousness of God. With this thought in mind, let’s take a broader look at scripture to consider the righteousness of God.
