Today the Church faces many challenges, and just like Israel of old the only way for it to be successful is for the family to be committed unto God. Fathers and mothers must fulfill their role according to Gods word, and train their children to do the same. We have before us the same choice that Joshua presented to the children of Israel. Will we, like him, say, “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord?”

The first time the word mother appears in the Bible is in (Genesis 3:20). God made Adam, and then he took a rib from his side and made Eve. Since that time every man or woman has been brought into this world because of a mother. Throughout the Bible we read of mothers, both good and bad. A mother may choose to be many things, but there are none as great as a godly mother.
Parents can have a profound impact on their children's lives. This impact can also reach future generations. There may come a time when we feel as if we have nothing left to offer. We have raised our children and they have children of their own. The benefits that we have to offer our children will never cease. Even after they are grown we can still have an impact on our children's lives as well as our grandchildren. We can give our children an inheritance, not of money or possessions, but of godly living.
Within this verse lies the goal of every Christian father and mother, to train their children in such a way that they will live according to those standards set for them all of their days. Of course, the way that Christian parents train their children is according to the Bible. As soon as we have those precious little ones the training begins. We raise them from birth all the way up until the time that they are ready to start a family of their own. If we have done our job well, they obey the Gospel of Christ and never depart from it. That is our goal as parents and it is a lofty one. It is a goal that literally requires our best.
We must have a vision of the sort of men we want our boy's to be. We should want them to be the sort of men we respect when we meet them in our daily life - men of character. There are things that we as parents must do in order to help our boys become such men. It begins with teaching them, and living ourselves, the virtues we admire.
Mankind has made many technological advances over the past century and continues to make new ones every day. Some of these advances have been for the better, others for the worse, and then there are those that have the potential for both good and bad. With all of this knowledge it seems almost scary what man is able to accomplish. Through all of our advances it seems obvious that we are making it easier to sin. Through mediums such as television, movies, and the internet immorality is constantly displayed before our eyes. My main concern is our young people today. They are truly growing up in a world where nothing will be restrained from them.
